Club kid: How to make it into a touring production of 'Cabaret'

How does one go from rabbinical school to acting in musicals?

For Zac Mordechai, who plays the Emcee in the production of “Cabaret” coming to Sangamon Auditorium on Friday night, it took a determination to seize opportunities as they arose.

Like the time he worked his way into an appearance on the VH1 show “I Love the ’90s.”

“I was walking in Times Square with my friend from an audition and I saw video cameras,” he said. “If you’re an actor in New York (and) you see a video camera, you go, because as far as I’m concerned, I’m the show.”

He and his friend decided to get into character and see what happened.
