Ralph's World Rocks Springfield

On Saturday, January 23, Sangamon Auditorium was pleased to present two performances by everyone’s favorite kids’ rock band, Ralph’s World. At 11 a.m., a full house in the UIS Studio Theatre was treated to about 75 minutes of Ralph’s World’s most well-known standards such as “The Coffee Song”, “Dance Around” and “We Are Ants” along with tunes from the newest release, The Rhyming Circus, including the title track and the incredibly tuneful “Edward, the Tap-Dancing Elephant”. With a standing-room-only section on the main floor in front of the stage, the atmosphere was that of a club rock concert, but with a substantial percentage of attendees well under four feet tall.
Prior to the performance, those in attendance were treated to activities in the lobby sponsored by http://www.springfieldmoms.org/, the Junior League of Springfield and Lincoln Land Community College’s College for Kids program.

Following the morning performance, front man Ralph Covert and the rest of the band headed to St. John’s Children’s Hospital for an afternoon performance for hospital patients, patient families, and employee families. At the hospital’s Bunn Auditorium, a similar atmosphere of musical fun engulfed the attendees. As with the morning performance, those in attendance were encouraged to not only dance and move around the room, but also join the band on stage for a few numbers and even make a conga line-like train that traveled around the room for the duration of one particularly appropriate song.

Ralph’s brand of musical fun is infectious for both kids and grown-ups and we hope to welcome him back to Springfield sometime in the near future!
